Computerworld announced that AOL has launched AOL Instant Messaging Pro Professional Edition for business use. The service is available for free download and provides services beyond the consumer IM service like integration with WebEx, e-mail address as user name. It will be able to interface with the 80 million IM users of AOL Instant Message, ICQ and iChat according to the article.
Computerworld also had an article detailing research from Telephia about the growth of consumer Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) services being used for voice telecommunications in lieu of landline services. There are now over 2.9 million users with Vonage holding the number one spot with 53.9% market share followed up by Verizon Voice Wing and AT&T Callvantage with 5.5% each according to the research. Their research indicates that VOIP users represent 4.1% of all those with Internet connections.
BBC and CNN had articles about the poisoned PowerPoint presentation that is being delivered via GMail and creating security problems that allow for keystroke tracking on PC's where it is downloaded. Microsoft is working on a fix for this problem. See my blog entry at PPT - Powerful Presentation Techniques for additional information.
