Podcast Ad Auction

Adjab reported on the eBay auction of ad space on the Tech Nation podcast.  The opening bid for the ad package was set at $12,000.  Business Week also covered this story in their Blogspotting report.  The package includes some sponsorship messages that will stick with the podcast as it is downloaded when broadcast and in the future.

The auction of ad space on Tech Nation follows the successful auctioning of ad space earlier this spring on eBay for advertising space on Rocketboom, a video blog.  There were 105 bids for the Rocketboom ads, with the winning bidder being TRM for their ATM's.  You can view the series of Rocketboom ads that were created for TRM.

Given my earlier posting about podcasts, if this auction is successful we could be seeing the emergence of a new advertsing medium that could be worth exploring.
