YouTube Statistics
Business Week's Blogspotting blog referenced Asi Sharabi's blog posting at No Man's Blog where he conducted a content analysis of the 100 most favorite videos on YouTube to determine the mix of content creators. Interestingly his analysis showed that users created over 50% of the most viewed videos.
Here's the breakdown of the top 100 from his analysis using the categorization scheme he selected:
- 58 user created videos
- 31 music videos
- 4 commercial ads (including one of my favorites - UnPimp Your Automobile, shown below)
- 3 commercial viral films
- 2 movie trailers
- 2 Asian candid films
At the time of his posting the number 1 video - "The Evolution of Dance" had been seen 28,643,691 times. (Okay, I admit it... I'm guilty of having watched part of it once...)
But here's one of my favorites...
