Enhancing Your Meetings and Conferences With Web 2.0 Tools

Are your meetings and conferences fully utilizing web 2.0 tools to connect and engage with customers?

I had the pleasure of presenting a keynote on ways to incorporate these tools into your meeting armamentarium at the 2nd Annual National Conference on University and College Conference Centers that was held earlier this week in Tuscaloosa, AL. I've posted the slides here using SlideShare to showcase one way that your meetings can be enhanced i.e. osting and sharing your meeting slides using a slide sharing tool like this. Beyond online slide sharing, there are many ways that your meeting and conferences can be enhanced using web 2.0 tools like online video, photo sharing of meeting attendees, blogs, wikis, social network site groups, etc.

If you'd like help with figuring out how to incorporate these concepts into your next conference, drop me a line or call me in the U.S. at 608 255 4092.

Nibblets - Breaking Murphy's Law Presentation Blog & Slide Executive Presentation Management Tools

I've been a bit lazy in my blog posting lately.  Every once in awhile you need a brief hiatus from the thinking, synthesizing, writing and analyzing time that blogging takes.

I wanted to share a couple of resources that were submitted to me for comments and for inclusion on my blog and list of PPT and Presentation resources.

The first of these is a blog called Breaking Murphy's Law, written by Lee Potts, that helps presenters deal with the inevitable problems that are bound to come your way when you're presenting - from stolen equipment, to lost presentations, etc.  One of his more popular postings was "Don't give a Pigeon a Perch to Poop From", a cleverly titled posting on planning for the inevitable detractors that will look for that perch during your presentation that they can use to attack you from.

The second resource that was submitted was Slide Executive, software designed to help you manage your valuable presentation assets at the desktop level, workgroup level or enterprise.  Instead of constantly wasting time searching for that slide you know you have, but can't remember which presentation it was in, the tool is designed to help inventory your assets in a more effective manner.  I haven't tried this out, but will be downloading a trial of their desktop version to see how well it works.

PPT Milestone - 20,000 page views

I'm happy to let you know that PPT - Powerful Presentation Techniques has passed a milestone - over 20,000 page views since it was introduced last year.  We now have over 50 unique visitors/day viewing the content on PPT.  Since its inception the blog has covered presentation techniques, PowerPoint Tips, provided PowerPoint Resources and encouraged readers to continue their efforts to make their presentations the best they possibly can be.

I hope that you continue to enjoy this free resource and encourage your feedback.  I'd also love to talk to you about the PPT - Powerful Presentation Techniques workshops that I offer for small corporate, educational and other interested groups.  The workshops focus on providing a blended training of presentation and PowerPoint skills given the ubiquitous nature of this software tool and the importance of platform skills.  The sessions can be customized to fit your needs.

Please e-mail or call me, Paul Gibler, at 608 255 4092 if I can provide any additional information.

State of Blogging

Wisconsin Technology News has published my article on Blogging called "Cut through the Blog Fog".  It includes some data on the use of blogs in business and links to resources about blogs.

Meanwhile, David Sifry at Technorati has published an update on the state of blogging that shows that they are now tracking over 50 million blogs with 175,000 new ones created daily.  In addition their data shows that the number of blogs is doubling every 6.5 months.  This data does not include any blogs on Myspace and also does not report on the number of blogs that are abandoned.

PowerPoint Blogs

Periodically I like to scan the blogosphere to see if there are any presentation or PowerPoint blogs that I haven't tracked down that might provide some valuable insights.  One of the latest that I've identified is the VisiScience Blog, that discusses the use of PPT in science.  They have a number of tutorials that might be useful for those of you using PPT for this purpose.  The blog appears to be published by the sellers of ScienceSlides a vendor that provides a module for scientific slides.

Do you have any recommendations on PowerPoint or presentation skills blogs that I should be tracking?
