Joining the online slide sharing game is AuthorSTREAM. The service allows you to upload your PowerPoint presentations and share them on blogs, YouTube or your iPod. Here's one of the presentations on the site that I found with some striking images.
Tech Crunch reported on the private beta launch of SlideRocket "a presentation app that wants to recreate PowerPoint in the browser and take advantage of the web's sharing and mashup capabilities." SlideRocket is scheduled to launch this summer.
I took a look at their online demonstration and capability descriptin to see that they are touting a wide range of features and benefits across a wide range of presentation phases including creation, delivery, managment, analysis and community. In the demo show they reference the following:

In a previous posting, I referenced a couple of educational videos from YouTube on embedding YouTube videos in PowerPoint. The videos cover two options for the use of YouTube videos with PowerPoint. The first discussed embedding a YouTube video for use while you are connected to the Internet amd the second described the tools and steps to take for downloading and converting a YouTube video for conversion and later insertion into your PPT for offline viewing.

Since then I've come across a PowerPoint Add In that creates a short cut for inserting YouTube videos into your PowerPoint slides for online viewing. The add-in was created by Shyam Pillai and is one of several available for download. I've downloaded the tool and found it to be a useful shortcut for the mult-step process that was described in my earlier posting.
Tech Buzz announced that Microsoft will be launching Microsoft Office Live Workspace a free online tool that will let users of Microsoft Office share Office documents in an online workspace. The Microsoft pre-release site claims that you'll be able to store 1,000+ Office Documents where you can give others permission to view, edit, comment, etc. The concept could be a big help in document version control and could help reduce e-mailing of large size files back and forth between team members. According to Cybernet, you won't be able to author documents from your browser like you can with other online tools like the Google Suite, but will need to use your desktop Office tools to handle this.

My fellow blogger and Power Point expert Laura Bergells at Maniactive has a great posting summarizing and linking to 4 video tutorials on embedding YouTube video into PPT presentations using either PPT 2007 or 2003 with the videos linked and inserted in PowerPoint when you are offline or online. I know that this is a hot topic judging by traffic to my blog on prior postings I've made on this topic linking to a step-by-step instructions at tiara.org.
I've taken the liberty of embedding one of the video clip instructions that Laura references on how to add a YouTube video to PowerPoint when you are planning to be online when you make your presentation.
I also experimented with the conversion directions in the YouTube video for offline insertions of presentation of YouTube videos using Video Downloader and ErightSoft's Super and found that it worked fairly well.
Kudos to reponzo01, a 24 year old YouTuber for his simple and well done instructional videos.
Slideshare has taken their presentation service one step further with the introduction of Slidecast according to BrandAutopsy blogger John Moore. The new Slidecast service allows a presenter to upload an mp3 file and synchronize it with their Slideshare presentation - mashup of a PowerPoint Presentation with a Podcast audio track.
Slideshare has loaded a video on YouTube that explains how to create a Slidecast.

In other Slideshare news, Utility Belt a Business 2.0 blog, has an interview with Jon Boutelle, co-founder and CTO of the company. In the interview he provides some interesting insights on Slideshare and its users. Among the features that they are working on is a privacy set that will allow for permission levels to be set. This feature is one where the Digital Impressions review gave their feature points to ZohoShow.
Robin Good at Kolabora has put together an excellent review of screen sharing technologies. The mini-guide describes what screen sharing is all about, how it is being used and proceeds to evaluate 25 different screen sharing options.
